An evolving world - how "Woodfield Way" started out.
As most artists know, the path you follow as a creative creator is seldom straight. In my case it was definitely doughnut-shaped!
In Jan 2025, after re-teaching myself 3D Blender after a break of 20-odd years from even looking at 3D software, and around March 2025, I began a little self-led project, creating a 3D animal toy that could be easily assembled and built by children. This happened to be an Easter Rabbit.
Working as a postperson gives me a lot of time to mull ideas over in my head whilst I drive around the streets of Cardiff delivering parcels. One day, soon after creating the rabbit, an idea came into my head to create a little group of "wooden" friends, and so, slowly, the idea for "Woodfield Way" came into being.
From a doughnut to a distant land.
As many users of Blender usually seem to discover quite early on in their 3D learning, is the existence of the infamous "Donut tutorial" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4haAdmHqGOw a very useful online tutorial by the Blender Guru, Andrew Price (Check out his YouTube channel here https://www.youtube.com/@blenderguru).
So I did the online tutorial and managed to make a delicious-looking, realistic doughnut, and as I looked at my little creation, I suddenly thought to myself that this would make an excellent starting point for a world. Using the camera animation in Blender I worked out a very basic world overview An example can be seen here:
Which very quickly grew to a more defined world, keeping in my mind that this "world" could be a toy world that children could assemble themselves. So by June 2025 I had a very rough idea of what "Woodfield World" could look like and created a little fly around... you can see a little version here

Since May last year, I have adapted the world and created an imaginary land that our little wooden friends inhabit, and I am excited to show the forthcoming outcome! My Pilot Episode "The Ping Ping Pong Song" will be released in May on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@WoodfieldWay where the Woodfield Way World will be shown publicly for the first time!
